GST registration
Dear Forum,
A firm is providing health care services and hence the firm did not apply for GST registration as the health care services are exempt from GST. But the firm wants to sell an old medical equipment. Whether the Firm should apply for GST registration? Turnover from the health care services is of Rs.80 Lakh.
Thanks in advance.

GST Registration is required since selling old machinery is activity different from providing health care facilities and turnover of entity exceeds the threshold limit for GST registration which is 20 Lakhs.

In my considered view, GST registration shall be taken as the aggregate turnover, in the instant case exceeds Rs. 20 lakhs.
Generally, in terms of Sec. 23 ofthe case Act 2017, GST registration is not required, if an entity is exclusively engaged in the supply of exempted Supplies (healthcare Services).
Selling the medical equipment is a taxable supply of good. for the limited purpose of discharging GST on the sale of
medical equipment, GST registration shall be obtained. In the absence of specific relaxation in this regard.
