The Centre has decided to recast the boards governing trade of commodities such as tea, coffee and spices to make them more performance-oriented and accountable at a time when global competition is fast intensifying. The move, which will involve amendment of archaic Acts to make the boards more responsive to contemporary challenges, comes after commerce & industry minister Nirmala Sitharaman felt that these boards need to improve their working and achieve specific results in promoting exports.
