In a move aimed at boosting investment in small businesses, the corporate affairs ministry has allowed trusts including Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT), Alternate Investment Fund ( AIF) and Infrastructure Investment Trust ( InvIT) to become partners in limited liability partnership (LLP). The ministry had received several queries seeking clarifications whether a trust or a trustee representing a trust in the case of REIT, lnvlTs or such other trusts set up under the regulations prescribed under the Securities & Exchange Board of lndia (SEBI) Act, 1992, can become a partner in an LLP.
