  • Reliance Industries Plans $13 Billion Projects

Reliance Industries has sought environment ministry approval for a $13-billion (Rs. 78,000 crore at 1 dollar = 60 rupees) upgrade to its Jamnagar complex, including a 400,000 barrels per day (bpd) refinery, documents seen by Reuters show. The refinery would process cheap, heavy grades of crude that are increasingly available in Asia as the US shale boom has cut demand there.Reliance Industries, controlled by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, operates the world's biggest refining complex in Gujarat, where its two adjacent plants can process about 1.4 million bpd of oil.
