Refund of Export sales return.
Sir,
A person made an export sale with payment of IGST in April 2018 but the goods were rejected by the custom Deptt thus could not be exported. Since we raised the bill of export, we paid IGST in the month of May. Now How to Claim refund of this IGST paid on returned goods and second how to show this in GSTR-1 of April , which is still pending?

When goods are received back (for whatsoever reason), only recourse is to issue credit note under section 34 to reverse the supply transaction. After reversal of unfructified supply, the IGST paid restores and lie as excess tax paid to be adjusted or included in refund claim. Please consider if this approach is feasible. It is a wonder that Customs have rejected the goods, very interesting!
